IN MEMORY OF BERTIE EDWARD DAVEY

April 15, 1929 - March 31, 2021

Bert’s lifelong passion for music began when he was a young boy. He played in a small neighbourhood band that practiced in his family’s dining room during his teen years. As a young man, he was a self taught musician and it was not until much later in life that he took formal guitar instruction which he continued right up until last year. Bert played the piano throughout his life and his family enjoyed listening to him play in the evenings. The family home was full of jazz music which was Bert’s passion. He was a frequent participant in numerous jazz festivals and events around the city. Bert strongly encouraged and supported his granddaughter's music education in both piano and violin and never missed an opportunity to see her perform. Bert composed a number of pieces under the tutelage of his brother William and other music friends. It was through his hobby of music that he made and maintained many wonderful and lasting friendships with people from every age group and walk of life.
