COMPENSATION: $75,000/annually, paid biweekly

ORGANIZATION SUMMARY

MusiCounts, Canada’s music education charity associated with CARAS and the JUNO Awards, believes all youth should have access to the life-changing benefits of music and music education. We work to make music education accessible, sustainable, and inclusive for kids who need it most. We achieve this by allocating instruments, equipment, and resources to schools across Canada that are under-resourced, geographically isolated, or struggling to meet the diverse needs of their students.

OVERALL POSITION

The MusiCounts Fundraising Manager plays a pivotal role in advancing the organization’s mandate by developing and executing fundraising strategies and campaigns. This position requires strong writing, marketing, and campaign management skills and the ability to prospect, cultivate, steward, and secure new donors. The successful candidate will focus on engaging and growing MusiCounts’ mid-level and public donor base, using data analysis and gift prediction to inform strategic decisions and optimize outreach.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Fund Development & Donor Engagement (75%)

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with mid-level and public donors as well as community partners to advance MusiCounts’ work.
  • Develop and implement strategic fundraising plans, including direct donor and mail campaigns, annual appeals, and donor journeys focused on mid-level and public donors.
  • Donor relations, including tracking, reporting, acknowledgment, and stewardship efforts using Raiser’s Edge CRM.
  • Conduct proactive research to identify and qualify new donor prospects, including individuals and foundations.
  • Cultivate and steward relationships through regular face-to-face meetings with key donors, ensuring personalized engagement and long-term support.
  • Work alongside the Senior Coordinator, Development and Partnerships to prepare compelling grant proposals and other fundraising collateral to support new and existing revenue streams.
  • Monitor and analyze donor trends, campaign effectiveness, and fundraising performance to refine strategies and improve results.
  • Utilize constituent data to support gift prediction and optimize engagement with donor segments.
  • Provide timely reporting and updates on fundraising progress, pipeline, and donor engagement metrics to internal stakeholders.

Campaign Development and Communications (20%).

  • Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising campaigns (holiday campaign and back to school campaign) focused on public giving and special appeals.
  • Leverage data analysis and donor insights to shape effective communication strategies.
  • Support the creation of compelling donor communications.
  • Craft messaging that aligns with the organization's mission and resonates with diverse donor segments.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between fundraising and marketing teams to ensure consistent messaging and timely delivery of campaign materials.
  • Implement communications plans that deepen donor relationships, including personalized outreach, impact reports, and recognition materials.
  • Strengthen donor engagement and stewardship.

Event Support (5%)

  • Support MusiCounts-related activities during JUNO Week and other industry events.
  • Manage post-event processes such as donor follow-up and sponsor recognition.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in fundraising, communications, arts management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a nonprofit fundraising environment.
  • Proficiency with Raiser’s Edge CRM and comfort working with data-driven strategies.
  • Experience with donor stewardship across the full donor lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with project management and research tools (e.g., Metasoft, Google Drive, Wrike).
  • Familiarity with and effective use of AI tools to enhance donor research, campaign strategy, and engagement efforts.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational abilities with attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Professional demeanour with a donor-centric mindset and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian charitable landscape and/or music industry is an asset.
  • Bilingualism is an asset.

COMPENSATION

$75,000/annually, paid biweekly. MusiCounts offers a positive, inclusive, and collaborative work environment. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience. Health benefits are included.
