Laura Lee Matthie (Orillia, ON) discusses a fun, at-home assignment that has her students create podcasts that explore songs that are meaningful to them. She has also provided a podcast creation assignment outline, which can be accessed below.

Laura Lee began her teaching career in 1995 in Simcoe County. Over the years she has taught instrumental, guitar, vocal, and computers & music at the secondary level. She has experienced a school closing, a school amalgamation, and the opening of a new school and became a pro at packing and unpacking a music program! She often works with her elementary family of schools to assist them in their music programming. Laura Lee is Arts Chair at Orillia Secondary School and is the recipient of the 2018 MusiCounts Teacher of the Year Award. Laura Lee is currently the treasurer for the Ontario Music Educators’ Association (OMEA) board of directors and was President of the OMEA from 2008-2010.
