Brianna Lizotte, MacEwan University (Edmonton, AB)

Brianna Lizotte is a fiddle player from Sylvan Lake, AB. She grew up in a household where music was always played, whether it was from home videos or kitchen parties. At the age of 10, most of the musicians in her family had passed away, so she took it upon herself to keep the music alive. Her first experience playing an instrument at school was in Grade 5 band class. She joined bands throughout middle school and high school, playing a variety of instruments, and started gigging around the province at just 15 years old. This has led her to many amazing opportunities like playing on TSN for the Canada Winter Games grand opening in 2019 and travelling to Rome to support the Métis delegates during their meetings with the Pope. She currently attends MacEwan University in the Bachelor of Music program, and hopes to continue learning about her culture to eventually teach the fiddle to the next generation of Métis youth.

Spencer Mackenzie, Mohawk College (Hamilton, ON)

Spencer Mackenzie was always drawn to music and fell in love with playing blues music at a young age. As a teen, he played jams locally and in the GTA, gaining confidence and mentorship along the way, ultimately inspiring the release of his debut album Infected with the Blues at just 16 years old. As more performances started to come in, Spencer not only got to showcase his music, but also got to work on his craft and passion of playing blues music. At 18, he released his second album, Cold November, which topped blues & roots charts, earned worldwide reviews, and broadened his performing opportunities, bringing him to festivals like the Tremblant International Blues Festival, the Thunder Bay Blues Festival, Trois-Rivières en Blues, and more. He decided to go to Mohawk College for the Applied Music program, where he’s been perfecting his craft and discovering a new passion - teaching guitar to the next generation of music lovers. He hopes to pursue opportunities as both an artist and educator throughout his career. In 2022, he released his third album, Preach To My Soul.
