The National Hockey League Alumni Association (NHLAA) is proud to announce it will honour Hockey Hall of Fame inductee Paul Coffey as their 2026 Keith Magnuson 'Man of the Year' Award recipient. To celebrate Paul’s remarkable legacy, the NHLAA will host the 2026 ‘Man of the Year’ Award Celebration on Saturday, March 14, at 7:00pm (EST) at The Concert Hall in Toronto, one of Canada’s most iconic venues.
New this year, the celebration will blend hockey greatness with music royalty in a one-of-a-kind concert event, headlined by Canadian music legends Tom Cochrane, Sam Roberts, and Barney Bentall. This event is presented by Scotiabank and Environmental 360 Solutions Inc (E360S).
The Keith Magnuson 'Man of the Year' Award, established in 2001, is presented to a former NHL player who has applied the intangibles of perseverance, commitment and teamwork developed through the game into a successful post-career transition.
This special evening will bring together icons of the game, including many of Paul’s former teammates, with a unique musical tribute featuring headline performances by acclaimed multi-Platinum and JUNO-winning recording artists, Tom Cochrane, Sam Roberts, and Barney Bentall, with additional surprise special guests.
The 'House Band' will feature an all-star lineup including Dave Bidini of the Rheostatics, Tyler Stewart of the Barenaked Ladies, Tim Bovaconti of The Burton Cummings Band, Stuart Cameron of the Crash Test Dummies, and Jeff Jones of The Guess Who. Adding to the hockey flavour, musically talented NHL Alumni member and 7-time Stanley Cup Champion Bryan Trottier will also take the stage. This unforgettable blend of elite hockey heritage and Canadian music promises to be a night to remember.
Public tickets are priced at $130 each (plus taxes & applicable fees). The first 77 tickets are priced at the ‘early bird’ rate of $77.00 (plus taxes & applicable fees) and will go on sale Friday, January 23, at 10:00am (EST). Proceeds from each sale will benefit MusiCounts’ unwavering commitment to growing music education across Canada, as well as the NHL Alumni Association’s numerous health, wellness, and transition programs that support former players and their families in retirement. This will be a licensed event; legal drinking age is required to attend.
Paul Coffey, widely regarded as one of the greatest defensemen in NHL history, will be celebrated for his extraordinary on-ice career and commitment to furthering the NHLAA’s mission to make tomorrow better than today for all former players and their families. His accolades include four Stanley Cup championships (three with the Edmonton Oilers and one with the Pittsburgh Penguins), three Norris Trophies as the NHL’s top defenseman, induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2004, and inclusion among the 100 Greatest NHL Players of all-time. Paul’s number 7 was retired by the Oilers in 2005, a spot where it will hang for eternity. In retirement, Paul continues to serve on the NHLAA’s Board of Directors, a role he has held since 2020.
